This homemade ranch dressing is the only one you’ll ever need. It is a fresh homemade take on the classic, with fresh flavors that you can make your own.
Combining creamy mayo and tangy yogurt for the base, along with a mix of dried parsley, garlic powder, onion powder, and dill for that signature flavor. A pinch of salt and black pepper adds balance, resulting in a versatile dressing ideal for salads, dipping veggies, or drizzling over grilled meats. With its simple ingredients and quick preparation, homemade ranch provides a flavorful upgrade to any dish.

Ingredients
Mayonaise
This recipe is the best when made with our Easy Homemade Mayo. Trust me, once you’ve tried homemade mayo the store bought stuff just isn’t the same!
Plain Yogurt
Any plain yogurt will do, if you are using a greek yogurt it will change the consistency slightly as it is much thicker than a normal yogurt.
Dried Parsley, Dried Dill, Garlic Powder & Onion Powder
This blend of spices gives the classic ranch flavor. I use dill that is fresh from our garden and dried, making a much stronger tasting dried dill than you get in the store. Depending on the dried dill you use, you may need to add more, see recipe notes below.
Salt & Black Pepper
To add flavor and balance.
FAQ
Can I use Greek yogurt instead of plain yogurt?
Yes, Greek yogurt can be used as a substitute, but it may result in a slightly thicker consistency and tangier flavor.
How long does homemade ranch dressing last in the fridge?
Homemade ranch dressing can store in the fridge for a week to 2 weeks depending on the type of mayo you are using. If you use homemade mayo I would only keep it for a week due to the fresh raw egg. If you are using a store bought mayo you can stretch it to 2 weeks. As always use your judgement (smell, looks, etc) of the ranch after the 1 week mark, to make sure it is still good to use.
TIP – For less dishes, make and store your ranch dip in a wide-mouth pint mason jar and seal with a leak proof lid.
What dishes can I use homemade ranch dressing with?
Homemade ranch dressing is incredibly versatile and can be used as a salad dressing, a dip for vegetables, a sauce for chicken wings, or even as a topping for baked potatoes.
